Like Lara I want to know why are they stopped here; especially the person who is parked on the road next to the hill/mountain side. Are the rocks stable? Where was you?
This was during the Adirondacks trip as Kams guessed.
The first one is on Mt.Whiteface, it was one of those photography points where there was something of interest and people could park to look around.
The second one is on the banks of Schroon Lake. The rocks were not dangerous at this place so we could park and look around.
Both times the car was ours :)
Ian, the roads were not at all busy as you noticed. The Adirondacks region is 6 million acres big and is sparsely populated. We did not meet many tourists even when we went hiking..sometimes we were the lone couple hiking the trail it was very scary :)
